Meet Brian Masse

Born in
Windsor on July 9, 1968, Brian was raised in both the South and West ends of Windsor. Brian attended Sir Wilfrid Laurier University, graduating with an
Honours Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology with a minor in History. Other
educational achievements include completion of course work for a Masters in
Sociology at the University of Windsor, Personal Support Worker certificate from
St. Clair College, Non-Violent Crisis Intervention and other training in health
related fields.
Highlights of Brian's employment experience include three years as a Program Co-ordinator for the Multicultural Council of Windsor and Essex County. At the MCC he operated the Multicultural Youth In Action Program designed to promote the elimination of racism and discrimination, while providing youth at risk the opportunity to gain employment related skills.

Brian spent several years working on behalf of persons with disabilities. Working for the Association For Persons With Physical Disabilities he developed an employment service for persons with physical disabilities. Working with more than 26 community agencies over three counties he helped create the Opportunities program. Other employment experiences included Community Living Mississauga, and various teaching positions at community college and university settings.

Elected to Municipal politics as a City Councillor in November 1997, Brian was re-elected in November of 2000. Representing the West part of Windsor, Brian sat on several committees including Chair of the Windsor Ethnic and Race Relations Committee, Vice Chair of the Essex Region Conservation Authority, Vice Chair of the Detroit River Canadian Clean Up Committee, Planning Advisory Committee, Windsor Advisory Committee on Disability Issues, Art Gallery of Windsor and was a board member for the Windsor Essex County and Pelee Island Visitors and Convention Bureau, Windsor Housing Authority, Riverfront Planning Committee, City Centre Business Improvement Association and Sandwich Towne Business Improvement Association. Brian also sat on the Board of Directors for the Canadian National Institute For the Blind Essex-Kent District, and the Aids Committee of Windsor and Essex County.
On May 21, 2002, Brian was elected as the Member of Parliament for Windsor-West representing the New Democratic Party. He was re-elected June of 2004 with more than 20,000 votes and re-elected once again on January 23, 2006 with 23,608 votes, 49.5% of the votes cast. He serves as the NDP critic for Industry, Science and Technology, Auto Policy, Canada/US Border Issues, and Canada Customs and Revenue Agency as well as acting as the Urban Affairs Advocate.
Brian lives in Windsor with his wife Terry Chow, daughter Alexandria and son Wade.
